Orders from comments – the most common mistakes and how to avoid them

Seven errors that prevent comments under live videos from turning into paid orders, and specific settings in NexusShop that will fix them. You can fix most of the problems before your first broadcast.

You go live, the comments are pouring in, and you feel like your sales are going great. But after the live is over, you find out that some people never paid and some comments have not turned into anything. Comment orders have their own typical pitfalls when selling live. In this article, we’ll go over the seven most common mistakes and show you how to fix them in NexusShop before your first broadcast.

What are comment orders and why mistakes are made with them

An order from a comment is created when a customer writes a purchase code with your prefix under a live video or post. The system creates an order in your e-shop, including a warehouse deduction and a payment message.

Where does it go wrong? At the speed of live sales, with hundreds of comments per minute, errors can easily accumulate. A customer writes the code incorrectly, the product is sold out, or they never get to checkout. You only find out when the broadcast is long over.

The good news: errors are almost always in the preparation before the broadcast , not in the system itself. Most of them can be solved by a properly set up product catalog . Below you will find seven errors, each with a specific solution. You can also find the basics of how it works on the Live sales from comments page.

Mistake 1: Unclear or overly complex product codes

The most common reason why an order does not go through is a code that the customer cannot type correctly. Codes without a uniform prefix, too long, or easily interchangeable (O and 0, l and 1) cause the comment to remain just a comment.

What about that:

  • Choose a short custom prefix (such as NX) and assign the code to each product and variant.
  • Rely on recognition: the system can handle writing with or without spaces, lowercase letters, size, or color.
  • Show the code in the image, put it in a pinned comment, and say it out loud.
  • For variants (size, color), use the variant code , not just the product code.

If you create products via AI from a photo , SKUs and codes for live are generated automatically with a uniqueness check, so there are no duplicates. You can find more about the settings in the article Product codes in comments .

Mistake 2: The stock is not ready – selling more than you have

When inventory is kept in a spreadsheet or manually, there is no time to count. The last piece is sold twice and you have disappointed customers to whom you have to write apologies.

The order from the comment will deduct the stock immediately . This way you will sell the last piece exactly once. Sold out pieces will not be lost, they will go into reservations and wait for the stock to be replenished.

  1. Check the statuses of all variants before going live.
  2. Set a low alert.
  3. After replenishing your inventory, you can convert reservations into orders with one click.

Communicate fairly: the customer will receive an explanation for the code of a sold-out product instead of silence. Details about warehouse modules can be found in the Warehouse and Shipping section and in the article Warehouse during live sales .

Mistake 3: Customer receives order but does not complete payment

The comment has become an order, but the customer doesn't know what to do next. Or they simply can't get through to payment. The order remains unpaid.

Messenger checkout solves this. After recognizing the code, the customer receives an order summary with price and variant in Messenger, as well as a button to complete payment and delivery. It also works after 24 hours from the comment.

  • Payment by card, transfer or cash on delivery will be made in your e-shop.
  • The customer can type CHECKOUT and will receive a link to their current cart.
  • After the live stream ends, send a mass message with a reminder of unfinished baskets and a recording for everyone who participated.

You can find the features in the Messenger and Instagram Automation overview. They are also described step-by-step in the Messenger checkout guide and Messenger post-live text: five messages that sell .

Error 4: Missing address and phone number – manual customer query

After going live, you spend hours typing "send me your address and phone number" and some customers are lost in the meantime. It's unnecessary manual work that the system can do for you.

If the system does not recognize the customer , it sends them a short secure form directly in the conversation. The address is saved with the customer and the next purchase goes without questions. Phone format check and protection against misuse reduce the number of defective shipments.

Everyone who writes a comment or message is automatically saved to your customer list (PSID, name, phone, address). In addition, in the Messenger inbox, you can see their purchase history during chat, so you know who you are communicating with.

Mistake 5: Relying on a spreadsheet instead of an e-shop

Manually transcribing comments into a spreadsheet seems innocent until a busy broadcast comes in. With hundreds of comments per minute, orders get lost or duplicated, and you don't even have time to look at the camera.

Turbo Automat reads comments, recognizes product code and variant, and creates an order directly in the e-shop, not in a spreadsheet. It takes less than 5 seconds from comment to order. How it works in high volume is described in the article Turbo Automat: thousands of comments per minute .

  • LIVE Manager PRO shows comments in real time and allows you to create an order with one click when manual intervention is required.
  • DOMINO automates the start and end of a live broadcast: it rewrites the /live link, edits the video title and hashtags, turns on the automation, and launches Messenger messages. This way, you won't forget any step before broadcasting.

Mistake 6: The customer doesn't know exactly what to write and where

The comments are a mix of questions, praise, and orders. New audiences often don't know what format to write code in and prefer not to write anything at all.

Advise them clearly:

  • Attach a comment with instructions and a code example with your prefix.
  • Use banners and a QR code in the NexusLive broadcast and briefly repeat what they should write at the beginning of each block.
  • Offer multiple paths: code under live, code in message (Messenger, Instagram Direct), cart directly in the player on your own stream, and purchase from the recording.

When broadcasting to multiple networks via restream , follow the same rules. Comment orders work on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. For more information about your own studio, see the NexusLive Custom Broadcast section.

Mistake 7: Sales end after the broadcast

The live ends, interest wanes, and delivery, invoices, and reservations are handled chaotically. And it's right after the broadcast that you have the most customers who would still like to buy.

After the broadcast, the system will create a record with the products on the timeline . The customer clicks on the product, the video will rewind to the moment of the performance and they can add it to the cart. The sale continues even after the broadcast. More in the Broadcast recordings section.

Administration will be reduced by the order module with automatic invoices in PDF and shipping with GLS labels from the order and shipment tracking for the customer.

Pre-live checklist:

  1. Catalog and product and variant codes.
  2. Stock levels and low stock alerts.
  3. Payments and shipping.
  4. Test order from a comment.
  5. Pinned comment with instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Why wasn't an order created from my live comment?

Most often, this is a poorly written code, a missing prefix, or a product or variant that is not in the catalog. Check that each variant has its own code, and test the order from the comment before sending. The system recognizes lowercase letters and writing with a space.

What happens when a customer enters the code for a sold-out product?

An order will not be created for a non-existent item and sold-out items will go into reservations, where they will wait for the stock to be replenished. The customer will receive an explanation instead of silence. Once the stock is replenished, you can change reservations to orders with one click.

How quickly will an order be created after entering the code and what will the customer receive?

From comment to order, it takes less than 5 seconds. The customer receives an order summary in Messenger with price and variant, and a button to complete payment and delivery. It works even after 24 hours from the comment.

Do I have to transcribe orders from comments into a table?

No. Turbo Automat creates an order directly in your e-shop, deducts stock and sends a message with payment. The table is a source of errors and duplications in live sales, so you don't need it in this process.

Summary

Bad codes, unprepared inventory, incomplete payments, manual address queries, spreadsheets, unclear instructions, and forgotten upsells – these are the seven mistakes that most often thwart orders from comments . Almost all of them can be eliminated with good preparation. Set clear codes, prepare inventory, turn on Messenger checkout, and let Turbo Automat do the routine. Want to see it on your own products?
